ROGER Dodd’s handicap will inevitably be adjusted as he ran out the clear overall winner at the first Cirencester seniors competition of 2014.
Dodd placed first of the 78-player field and headed up Division Two with an impressive 43 points.
A very good outward nine was topped by his back nine, where pars and a handy birdie on hole 16 took him clear of the field.
Ian Allan and John Canty both scored 40 points and were placed second and third in Division Two.
Dave Jones, who plays off a nine handicap, topped Division One. With three birdies on his way out he came back solidly to get 39 points.
Robert Tweedale was at his best in his front nine and he finished as runner up with 38 points. Pat Waldron and Ken Mills took third and fourth with 37 points.
Meanwhile, Mike Brown, John Thurston and Peter Knight were the winners of Cirencester Golf Club’s recent January Bowmaker competition for senior golfers.
The Bowmaker is played in a format where the best two scores are taken from the team of three on each hole.
Seniors vice-captain Mike Brown, past seniors captain John Thurston and Peter Knight triumphed on 89 points.
In second place were Ken Mills, John Binder and Chris Watson, who scored an outstanding 48 points on the back nine for a total of 87.
