Farmor's School win the cup
Farmor’s School Year 11 rugby team achieved a momentous 43-0 victory against Cotswold School in the Stow Floodlit Cup.
The conditions at Stow RFC allowed for a good game of running rugby.
Farmor’s forwards continually applied pressure against Cotswold School in open and set-piece play, turning over plenty of possession for Farmor’s to attack with.
Due to the magnitude of ball that the Farmor’s forwards won, they choked the Cotswold attack and got on the score board quickly.
They kept the score ticking over throughout the first half, taking a 19-0 lead into the break.
After half-time, Farmor’s attacked with renewed vigour and used the wind and slope to their advantage to keep Cotswold pinned in their own half.
This continual pressure started to tell and with Farmor’s ability to retain the ball through numerous phases, gave space and time for attacks to be launched.
By the end of the match Farmor’s School had racked up 43-point without reply.
Man-of-the-match Sam Johnson dictated play effortlessly from scrum half through the help of his hard working forwards to secure good ball to play with.
By the final whistle Johnson had scored three tries, with three more tries coming from the forwards Joe Lewis, Eddie Bunn and Miles Harrison while winger George Tasker ran one in for the backs.
The gruelling and intense season started disastrously in September when the team were severely beaten in their first league match.
Instead of losing morale and confidence, they trained even harder and grew together to become a strong cohesive team.
Throughout each round of the Floodlit Cup, their performances became stronger and their confidence started to soar en route to the weekend’s success.
