CHIPPENHAM Town chief Mark Collier has promised to make changes to his team on Boxing Day following last weekend’s 5-0 thrashing.

The Bluebirds travel to Paulton Rovers looking for a swift return to form following the embarrassing collapse at Bideford.

Matt Coupe is fit to return for Town after injury but Collier will give late fitness tests to Jordan Roberts, James Guthrie, Conor McCormack and Alex Ferguson ahead of the trip to Winterfield Road.

“It’s a game we are looking forward to as we try to get back to form from what was a very poor game last weekend,” said Collier.

“We need to make changes but we need people available to be able to do that. I’d like to get more people back fit.

“Matt Coupe is available again and that’s very good news for us as we need all the experience and ability he brings to the table.

“We’ve got a big squad and if I was a player not involved in the last game I’d probably be thinking there’s a chance for me to play on Boxing Day.”

Chippenham are looking to improve on the 1-1 draw the two sides shared when they welcomed Paulton to Hardenhuish Park in August.

However, Collier is not expecting an easy task and has been impressed with how Rovers have settled following their promotion through the Division One South & West play-offs last term.

“They have adapted really well to what I think is probably a big step up,” said the Bluebirds boss.

“They had some mixed performances to start with but that comes with coming up, and they’ve reacted well since.

“I expect it to be a very tough game and decided on some narrow margins. It’s a tough place to go. I don’t think we can read too much into the game earlier in the season as both teams will probably have different personnel.”
