NOVEMBER 21 - 25 2006, SWINDON: Cinderella can't go to the ball at Swindon's Wyvern Theatre because of the asbestos scare but she is all set to step into her golden coach at the Arts Centre in Old Town.

Stagestruck are presenting their third pantomime at the Arts Centre from November 21 to 25.

Producer Geoff Marsh said: "We really do sympathise with the producers of the Wyvern panto this year. We know what they are going through.'' Stagestruck themselves had a similar dilemma when they were staging their first pantomime Aladdin.

Geoff added: "Unfortunately a few weeks before we were due to open we learned the Arts Centre refurbishments were not going to be finished in time and we hurriedly had to find another venue.

"Fortunately Greendown School came to our rescue.'' The producer wrote the script to Cinderella and will be fooling about on stage as one of the Ugly Sisters along with his comedy partner in crime Ken Jell.

Because of the problems with the Wyvern, the Arts Centre management is concerned that Swindon youngsters will be missing out on pantomime so it has offered Stagestruck a further three dates with two shows on each day - January 4, 5, and 6, 2007 Jane Osbourne, Geoff's wife, is the choreographer of Cinderella.

"Our previous pantos, Aladdin and Dick Whittington, were both sell-out shows and provided a marvellous vehicle for our rather unusual mix of comedy, song and variety,'' she said.

Tickets are £8 with £7 concessions available on 01793 840757 with school rates at £5 each for the November shows and 01793 614837 for the January bookings.
