A 15-year-old schoolboy is recovering at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon after being attacked with a hammer by the family of another pupil.
Eight men were arrested following after the attack at Ridgeway School in Wroughton just before 4pm today.
Police believe the boy was held down by the men and repeatedly hit around the head. His terrified classmates witnessed the attack.
The teenager was rushed to hospital where he was treated for head injuries and shock, His family were contacted by the school and rushed to his side.
Police, who are appealing for witnesses, began interviewing pupils this evening.
The eight men are being held at Gablecross Police Station in Swindon.
