A pensioner was robbed after a seemingly innocent exchange at The Co-op store in Malmesbury.
At approximately 1.30p.m. on 6th February, the woman who is in her 80's, was shopping in The Co-op stores in the High Street, when
she was approached by a man and woman, who asked the lady if she had change.
The elderly lady opened her purse, and helped the couple, and then continued
her shopping.
About 15 minutes later, the lady approached the cash till to pay for her
shopping, and found that her purse had been opened, and £180.00 in cash had
been stolen. It is believed that the man and woman who had previously
approached the lady may well have been responsible for the theft, and CCTV
images of the couple are attached to this release.
They are described as follows:-
The male was of stocky build, short dark hair, and was wearing a white
jacket and dark trousers.
The female was wearing a navy blue Parka coat, blue jeans and black shoes.
It is believed that the couple originated from Eastern Europe.
Anyone with information as to the identity of these 2 suspects, or anyone
who may have suffered any similar contact from these people, are asked to
contact Constable 1264 Steve Humphreys at Malmesbury, on 0845 4087000, or if
preferred, anonymous information may be left on the Crimestoppers line 0800
555111.
