THE search is on to find Swindon's top businesswoman.

The 2008 Swindon Business-women's Breakfast Club has launched its annual Make it Happen award and is looking for top female talent.

The award is open to all women who live and work in the Swindon area and who are looking to develop their potential through gaining further qualifications and training.

The winner will receive cash support of up to £500 against agreed training and career advice.

Claire Tubb, 40, is the 2005 award winner and the chairwoman of the Swindon Businesswomen's Breakfast Club.

She said: "This is a tremendous opportunity for someone to make it happen for them.

"It is truly amazing how this award can make the difference and gives women the confidence to take the next step in their careers.

"The interview panel is looking for women who have clear objectives regarding their career path and how they will achieve those objectives, with or without the award.

"The quality of applicants has been so good over the past few years that we have selected two or three candidates for an award."

The former Swindon College student from Old Walcot added: "I won the award three years ago.

"It gave me the confidence to take my business forward after I had completed a City and Guild course in garden design.

"I now run a garden design and maintenance business."

The SBBC has been running since 1989 and currently has 17 members from across all sectors and professions. Since 1996 the SBBC has offered sponsorship to help local women improve their career prospects through financial support for a business related course.

The breakfast club, which consists of members from across the commercial spectrum, meets at the Tawny Owl, Taw Hill, on the last Thursday of each month.

Anyone wanting to enter should contact Maureen Inwards by calling 01793 492471 or email maureen.inwards@intergraph. com.

The closing date for applications is Friday, May 9.
