Back-to-back wins for Westinghouse

WESTINGHOUSE got back-to-back wins as they beat Great Bedwyn by nine runs in
a thriller at the Sports and Social Club.
After a forgettable batting performance, captain Steve Coombs, Jon Cleverly
and Christian Fry did the damage with the ball while Sam Dix pulled off a
stunning catch from opener Daniel Swatton.
Delighted vice-captain Fry said: "Two wins in two is the best start we've
had in years. If we're winning while there's scope for improvement then the
signs are good for later on in the season.
"The game was very exciting and swung both ways. It was very hard-fought but
played in a good spirit.
"We were disappointed to be five down with not much on the board, but
captain Coombs and Sam Dix came together and they put on a partnership of 50
which turned things round a little bit."
Fry was grateful to Great Bedwyn's bowling attack, who gifted Westinghouse
45 of their 135 runs.
"The top scorer was Mr Extras, we did appreciate his contribution," said
Fry.
"Going in at tea knowing they are a stronger batting side than they are a
bowling side, I guess we were a little bit concerned.
"But all three of the seam attack bowled good lines and they never really
got away from it. It could easily have been over in the first 10 overs if
they had got off to a flyer, but they didn't.
"The lad that came in at number nine hit his first ever six off Jon Cleverly
and we were starting to panic at that point but we just about held it
together."
