THE sight of three of Swindon Town's players running up and down the pitch in nothing but their undies definitely caused a bit of a stir among the girls at the County Ground.

Stefani Miglioranzi, Aaron Brown and Ricky Shakes all braved the chilly temperature, stripping off to reveal their new Sloggi boxers.

Swindon underwear manufacturer Triumph International is getting behind the club and hopes their pants will help keep the boys in their relegation battle.

Every player on the first team is being given enough Sloggi underwear to see them through the rest of this season and next.

And judging by the excited whispers coming from the sidelines as the boys strutted their stuff, the new partnership seems to be going down well.

"It's just a little bit on the cold side," said midfielder Stefani.

"And I'm feeling pretty exposed." Team-mate Aaron Brown said that in spite of his boxers looking like hot pants, they were really comfortable.

"We really like Sloggi underpants.

"They're comfortable and keep you well supported.

"And there's no worries when you wash them as they don't go baggy."

But how often do the lads wash their pants?

"I put on a clean pair every day," said Aaron.

"But when I'm on holiday three days' worth of wear is standard."

Supporting the trio from the sidelines, and offering their own unique brand of encouragement, were a number of the other players and Town manager Iffy Onuora.

"One or two of them volunteered quicker than the rest while others had to be press-ganged into doing it," said Iffy.

"At least the sun was shining for them.

"It's good to know we have local businesses supporting us."

Triumph spokeswoman Sue Loder said: "The Swindon Town team is already in great shape and we want to encourage them all we can at this crucial time in the season.

"On a technical note, these pants are made in a special core-spun cotton/Lycra material. That means every single stretchy Lycra thread in wrapped in cotton.

"This gives the pants a long life and guarantees that only cotton is against the skin.

"The players will really appreciate how soft, breathable and absorbent this fabric is when they're active on the pitch."
