Landscape with Stones: paintings and woodcuts by Nick Schlee
A new exhibition Landscape with Stones by Nick Schlee opened at the Wiltshire Heritage Museum on Saturday 14 January 2012. The exhibition features a series of oils in an expressionist style and woodcuts depicting the ancient landscape of Avebury and the Ridgeway. Nick Schlee has exhibited at various exhibitions, including The Spirit of London and the Royal Academy, and here his dramatic work captures the power and magic of these ancient sites. More than half of the pictures in the exhibition feature those ancient stones of our landscape whose meaning to our forebears remain such a mystery. That sense of ancient mystery is so vividly communicated in Nick’s pictures, and the pull of these mysterious sites is as enduring as ever. All pictures in the exhibition are available for purchase.
