ON a busy Monday afternoon my friend and I popped into Marks & Spencer in Devizes to grab some lunch on the go.
We both opted for one of the shop’s Christmas-themed meals. I chose the turkey feast sandwich while my friend plumped for the turkey, bacon and cranberry pastry roll.
I thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich, which was served on malted brown bread. The turkey wasn’t dry and combined with the bacon stuffing and cranberry it was very filling.
My friend was equally impressed by her choice of lunch and said that the pastry was nice and flaky and the sweet cranberry was a good juxtaposition to the meat filling.
I also had one of their Victoria sponge slices which I thought was a little synthetic tasting and had too much icing sugar but was reasonably satisfying.
My friend seemed to be more impressed with her dessert choice, opting for the festive gingerbread man.
She said the ginger wasn’t too overbearing and she very much enjoyed the bottom half which was covered in sprinkles. With two soft drinks, our food came to £9 which seemed reasonable for a pleasant lunch.
