IT WAS early evening on a Friday and I decided to try my hand at Chiquitos in Trowbridge. Being a fan of Mexican food I found that the menu struck a chord.

Coming in at what had to be the busiest time of the evening, my girlfriend and I were told there would be a 15-minute wait, so we happily sat at the bar. Not even 10 minutes later we were taken to a table.

After much deliberation we decided on the Fully Loaded Nachos sharing starter (£10.95), which came topped with chilli, cheese, salsa, guacamole and sour cream, and it must be said went very quickly,. Simple but delicious.

For our mains I went for the Mighty Meaty burger (£13.75 including extras), doubled up of course, which was topped with jalapenos, chilli and bacon (which I swapped for cheese) and Beth chose The Border wrap with chicken, barbecue sauce and cheese (£10.95), and neither of us were unsatisfied. Both were cooked perfectly and came out rather quickly. As a side I decided to have sweet potato fries instead of regular fries (which was a recommendation from as recommended by our friendly waiter) and they had to be the highlight of the meal.

Along with a side of onion rings (£3.95), the whole meal was without fault. As far as chain restaurants go our dining experience went smoothly and was, accompanied by friendly and efficient service.

Our waiter, Tim, was happy to chat and joke with us even though it was clear that everyone was very busy, making sure that we were comfortable and everything was to our liking. During the meal we decided to spend a little more on some Long Island Ice Teas (£6.45), which proved to be proving refreshing and full of flavour.

For a first-time dining experience at Chiquitos I must say that I would happily go back. The bill came to £52.50.
