“It was 20 years ago today, Sgt Pepper taught the band to play” says the song which was parodied by one of the world's best known Beatles tribute acts, Wiltshire’s Sgt Pepper's Only Dart Board Band. By chance, almost 20 years to the day will see the band retire, after a Farewell Tour which features their first and last show in Marlborough.

Martin Dimery and John Freeman have played John and Paul in the band throughout this time, performing at hundreds of venues around the UK, Europe, and even the USA. They have been regulars at the Cavern Club, Liverpool, drawn big crowds at top festivals including Glastonbury and Ashton Court in Bristol and were chosen by the Beatles Fan Club to represent the Fab Four on the 40th anniversary reconstruction of the iconic Abbey Road photograph in 2009. The photo-opportunity turned into a massive street party which was publicised worldwide.

Sgt Pepper, their keyboards wizard, has been played by Rob Waller for most of the 20 years (he retired in 2009, making a comeback two years later), and Colin Holley as George and Colin Chalk as Ringo complete the current line-up.

The band has toured concert versions of Revolver, Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and Abbey Road which no other British Beatles act has done. Their Farewell Tour set features a wide range of the hits and classic album tracks of The Beatles from the 1960s, complete with a storming stage show, banter and repartee with the audience.
