RISING star Izzy F is through to the next stage of the new songwriting competition organised and run by Future Music, the team behind TeenStar and Live&Unsigned, and acts such as Lucy Spraggen, Birdy and Luke Friend.

The competition is national and open to all ages. Izzy performed three of her own songs at the auditions in Reading's Sub 89 venue on Saturday, and one of those, Spaces, which she first sang publicly at Melksham's Party In The Park last year, was chosen to go forward to the next round in April.

Spaces was also the song Izzy performed for the final of TeenStar at the NEC, Birmingham, in July last year and is one of 13 songs which appear on her debut album, Thirteen, recorded at River Studios, Southampton, and The Garage, Beanacre, where it was also mixed by Mel Austin.

Izzy Felstead is 13 years old, lives in Sutton Benger and attends Sheldon School in Chippenham. She regularly appears at The Pilot Music Nights in Bowerhill, Melksham and is one of a number of young talents who perform at those monthly gigs, along with Courtney Buchanan, who reached the TeenStar final in 2013, and Oxford trio Twisted State Of Mind, now signed to US label Toil Records.

You can catch Izzy and Courtney at the next Music Night on Wednesday, March 18, when the headline band will be Melksham-based Hell Death Fury. The gig starts at 8pm with Open Mic sessions and the headliners on around 9.30pm. Entry free and food available until 8.30pm.
