THE genre-defining kings of traditional rock'n'roll sensibilities put through a modern punk rock filter, The Computers will be headlining the Devizes Corn Exchange on Friday, as part of Devizes Festival.
The band perfectly compliment previous chairman, Ian Hopkins and his popular Long Street Blues Club crowd, with Civic Award winning, local promoter Kieran Moore and his youth orientated type of rock show.
Throwing about influences like Northern Soul and Rock n'Roll whilst giving it a healthy injection of modern energy. Front man Alex Kersham certainly believes he is the embodied spirit of Rock n'Roll, all quiff's, quips and Brylcream. Throwing them selves about stages across Europe for the best part of a decade has honed their live performance to something utterly entertaining and simply unmissable.
In our words, we don't believe Devizes has seen Anything like this, since our 60's and 70's heyday, and believe this show will go down in Devizes Folklore.
To make the gig even sweeter, Devizes lads, Stos and Dimitri Goneos, will be supporting with their band, Bite the Buffalo.
Little know in Devizes, despite being educated here and learning their trade on the floorboards of all the local pubs, the band have since toured the world, including a residency at LA's notorious Viper Rooms venue and hitting up the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury. The duo are beginning to creep onto main stages of other major UK festivals including 2000 Trees.
Their sound delightfully fuzzes up the 'other extremely successful sound of Devizes band The Hoax, and again, updated for a modern, younger generation!
