SINCE The Blackheart Orchestra were last in Broad Hinton, the band have release a single Keep The Light In, which has featured in national magazines like The Big Issue, BBC radio interviews.  They’ve received rave reviews for their new work not just from critics but from the cream of top musicians in the UK and the US.

The band, comprising British singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist duo Chrissy Mostyn and Richard Pilkington, return to Broad Hinton village hall on Saturday ight (September 10).  They blend musical styles in a non-conformist way seamlessly sidestepping boundaries to create their unique classically driven, emotion-drenched, acoustic-based contemporary music.

Chrissy's instantly recognisable sometimes delicate, sometimes gloriously huge voice is complemented by Richard's rich choral harmonies.  The band have drawn comparisons to Kate Bush, Ellie Goulding, London Grammar, and the Corrs.  Audiences and critics describe their work as haunting, enchanting and captivating.

One moment their sound is minimalist and fragile weaving melodies and atmospherics with silence to create ethereal musical landscapes. At other times the pair create a mountain-like wall of sound using ancient synthesisers, electronic drums, acoustic, electric and bowed guitars and bass to create vast energetic symphonic climaxes.

The pair have toured extensively in the UK, Australia and New Zealand and are touring later in the year with 60s legend Melanie Safka before embarking on a headline tour of Europe in November.

Saturday 10 September, Broad Hinton Village Hall. Doors open 7.30pm, band starts 8pm. Fully licensed bar. Tickets £10 from James Gates 01793 731197/jamesgates@btinternet.com
