Led Zeppelin fans who hoped their 2007 show at London’s O2 Arena would herald a series of comeback gigs seem doomed to disappointment, after singer Robert Plant said he wanted the legend to remain intact.
In the absence of the original, fans will have to make do with the UK’s only full time professional Led Zeppelin tribute band, Whole Lotta Led, who are gigging locally this weekend and next.
Whole Lotta Led are no Stars In Their Eyes lookalikes, they concentrate on the music which is performed with a collective enthusiasm and dedication second to none.
Whole Lotta Led play over 100 gigs a year and the current line-up has been together for nine years with Nick Ferris on guitar, Geoff Hunt on bass, Graham Twist on drums and Lee Addison on vocalsand harmonica.
Their shows use the entire Zeppelin back catalogue including the all time classics Whole Lotta Love and of course Stairway To Heaven. The band also include a selection of Zeppelin’s acoustic numbers, and have been given the thumbs-up by Jimmy Page himself.
They play a rescheduled gig at the Cheese and Grain in Frome tonight (Friday) at 8pm, with tickets £11 adv, £13 on the door, from 01373 855420.
Miss them here and you can catch them next week, when they hit the 12 Bar in Swindon on February 6 at 8pm, tickets £10 from 01793 535713.
