Volt promise last jolt of a gig to end an era

11:59am Friday 26th February 2010

West Wilts band The Volt have decided that it’s time to call it a day.

After five years Sam Brookes (vocals/guitar), Phoebe Phillips (bass/vocals), Jack Kendrew (guitar/vocals and Domenico Bartolo (drums) feel they have got what they wanted from the pop/folk rock/soul band and the time is right to move on to other musical projects.

They emphasise there is no split, and that they are all still remaining friends. After building a solid grassroots following, they won the MTV Get Seen Get Heard unsigned bands contest in 2008, when in recognition of the quality of their live act they were also nominated for the Live and Unsigned category at the Vodafone Live Music Awards. Last year they played at the Radio 1 Big Weekend Fringe festival in Swindon.

To bring the wheel full circle, they will end their stage career where they started, with a farewell gig at Moles Club in Bath on Friday, March 5, with The Locarnos and Farthing Wood supporting.

Tickets are £6/£4 with an NUS card from www.moles.co.uk or on the door.
