Want to hear your vocals or strut your stuff on a World Cup anthem for England this summer?
The join State of Undress, the rocky rootsy Dorset band, to help create one. They have re-written one of their live favourites, titled it This Time – England, and will be playing it at their gigs in Wiltshire soon.
The song premiered at The Beehive in Swindon last night, and the band play the Moonraker, Swindon, tonight at 9pm and are on stage at the Fox and Hounds at Wroughton on Sunday, April 4.
You can also join in the live recording and filming of This Time – England, due to take place on Monday from 4pm at Christchurch FC in Hurn, Dorset: and you don’t have to be there in person.
Charlie Rose, who wrote the football-themed lyrics, said: ‘It’s been a really rotten start to the year for many people everywhere. This year, more than ever, we could do with something positive and fun to look forward to and unite us all.
“The World Cup should do that and we think we have a great song to go along with it. If you want to be part of it, listen to the song on YouTube, then film yourself singing ‘This Time oh oh oh This Time oh oh oh’ etc and post it on the State of Undress Facebook group between now and March 28. Mobile phone footage is fine.
“We’ll include as many contributions as possible in the video. If you can stand under a sign saying Welcome to or a famous local landmark even better. Anything to show that this is a country-wide movement.”
Alan Rose, State of Undress guitarist who takes the lead vocal in This Time – England adds “You can wear an England football kit, an England T-shirt, paint your face red and white, wave a banner – anything to add to the atmosphere.”
