Woolley Festival’s move to two days of gigs in a field close to its original home at The George pub in Bradford on Avon may have meant the event lost a little of the intimate feel, but it didn’t diminish the quality of the music.

As well as the chance to hear some of west Wiltshire’s top tribute bands, Who’s Next being the biggest local names, there was also lots of opportunity to savour the unusual.

MarioBava offered perhaps the most interesting set of the day, with their mix of guitar, hammer dulcimer, percussion and electronic music effects.

West Wilts band Lodestone really impressed with their completely acoustic set, while the Rough Street Jug Band and Andrew Bazeley’s American-influenced sets went down a storm – shame no-one turned up to join the workshops, though.

In Devizes, The Bell By The Green played host to This Sudden Injury’s UK tour on Sunday.

Gesticulating crazily throughout and gushing with praise for the crowd and promoters Sheer Music, the band flew through a 45-minute set, which felt like 15 minutes of ‘Hot Snakes’ style hardcore punk to the testosterone-fuelled teen audience.
