Due to the current closure of The Old Bear, Staverton, mobsta have moved their regular bi-monthly gig to The Bear, Melksham.
“John Brown of The Unicorn, who owns The Bear also, has helped us out again,” said mobsta’s Mel Austin.
“We knew the managers at The Old Bear were leaving but we didn’t know there would be nobody to take over immediately. It’s a shame because the evening has become popular – we had around 60 people at the last one in May.”
Mel now thinks that they may consider the possibility of a permanent move if the gig attracts a big crowd.
“Many of the audience are teenagers and have to get transport out to Staverton”, explained Mel, “so this may well be much more accessible for local youngsters at least. We now use The Bear for our monthly Open Mic and headline Music Nights, and I like the atmosphere of the Jaeger Bar.”
The gig on July 31 has Daedalus’ Right Eye from Westbury as the headline band with support from new young Trowbridge band Truth and soloist Jessie Branson.
Tickets are £3 in advance or £4 on the door, open from 7.15pm with the first band on at 8pm. Call 01225 705866 for tickets or to get involved in future mobsta promotions.
