Swindon brothers Alan and Ian Bateman are creating the wonderful world of Louis Armstrong in an authentic tribute band.
The musicians are bringing their seven-piece jazz band to the regular Baker Street Tuesday Jazz Club in Wood Street, Old Town.
The tribute to Louis Armstrong and his All-Stars has wowed critics around Europe and the debut CD ‘Now You Has Jazz’ has just been voted the winner in the 2011 British Jazz Awards.
Ian and Alan set up the band a year ago to pay homage to their musical hero who’s timeless songs such as All The Time In The World and Hallo Dolly charmed more than one generation.
On Sunday the band are appearing at the world-famous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in Soho, London. On Tuesday January 24 the guys will showcase Louis’s greatest hits as part of the Baker Street Jazz Club’s biggest presentation so far. Trombonist Ian has been in the business for 35 years and is currently a regular with Acker Bilk and his Paramount Jazz Band. Alan is one of the most in-demand jazz trumpeters in the UK and is often seen in Acker’s band and the renowned Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen.
It is free entry to Baker Street but to book a table call 07429 313036.
