Iolanthe is one of the most popular Gilbert and Sullivan operas – full of intrigue, politics, misconceptions, unknown relatives, love, lords and boisterous fairies.
In March, the Swindon Gilbert and Sullivan Society are tackling this strange tale of adventure.
Iolanthe was first presented in 1882 and has one of the most famous courtroom dramas enacted in opera. It will be performed in the magical setting of Swindon’s Steam museum, from March 8 to 10, with evening performances at 7.30pm, and a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
Tickets are £12, or £11 for concessions and £6 for children from the Information Centre in the Central Library, or by calling 01793 466454, 01793 466646 or 01793 337906.
