ACOUSTIC supremos The Haiku are marking the launch of their debut album Fan the Flames with a gig in Trowbridge on Thursday February 7, when they play at The White Swan on Church Street, supported by fellow acoustic aficionados Lodestone.

For fans of a totally different style of music, the Bath Uni campus brings cutting edge electro sounds to a club-night format on February 9, in the first of a new series of events titled Underground Live.

PREVIEWING an appearance by Bristol-based supagroup I Am The Mighty Jungulator (IATMJ), renowned for their genre-splicing audio visual spectaculars, they will be hosting a free workshop into their techniques on Saturday February 2.

I Am The Mighty Jungulator is a live band and multi-media collective, renowned for working across the audio/visual/performance spectrum. With a core of four people, and another three or four when they go live, IATMJ combine a range of music influences, from techno and drum'n'bass, trashy-punk to classic cinematic influences. Using bass and electric guitar, mixed and manipulated by their own ground-breaking Jungulator software, they steer the music in any number of directions. They transform live and sampled sounds into a heady and intoxicating live performance, with unique visuals that turn the space into an immersive audio-visual spectacular.

The band have been building up their fan base with appearances across the UK at the major clubs and festivals, the Tate Britain and for the BBC. Saturday 2nd's workshop, which runs from 12 noon-2pm at 3 West North 2.1, University of Bath Campus, is free, but places are limited, reserve in advance on (01225) 386777.

The session offers a chance to work with media artist and Jungulator member Matt Olden to create a rich audio-visual artwork generated from sounds and images collected on a journey across the University's terrain. In this one-off intensive session, the artist combines his own samples with photos and video clips provided by workshop attenders. The collected fragments, processed and mixed, will provide the source material for a performance by I Am The Mighty Jungulator the following Saturday.

A CHANGE of style again as the blues goes on for slide guitarist Andrew Bazeley, pictured, following the demise last year of popular local band Barrelhouse Blues.

Now Andrew's on a sort of mission to show how the blues used to be played - with old guitars, old songs and an acoustic style not heard much since the days when the blues took shape, with the heartfelt songs of people like Son House, Charley Patton, Blind Willie McTell and - of course - Robert Johnson. You can see and hear him on Thursday February 7 at The Old Bear, Staverton - learn more at www.andrewbazeley.com
