WORCESTER'S own Tony James, otherwise known as Blobbie Williams, has taken part in a new Channel 4 show, "Come Dine With Me Champions of Champions".

In a brand new take on Channel 4’s flagship daytime show, previous winners were invited to take part in a high-pressure tournament, with the chance of being crowned as the Come Dine With Me Champion of Champion.

Tony is used to both the fame and the pressure.

He said: "I won an original 'Come Dine With Me' episode four years ago, and it has become one of the classics and repeated many times.

"I got an invite from Channel 4 asking if I would like to be involved and I just could turn the opportunity down. I'm not the worlds best cook by any means but I knew it would be great fun to be a part of the show, and as they only picked a handful of people that had won Come Dine With Me, was a real honour that they thought of me."

He added: "I can't say how I got on, but I can say I will be on the show for more than just the one day.

"The competition was a lot harder than I expected, but so much fun with a few challenges none of us expected. Also doing it all in front of a Michelin star chef really added to the pressure."

Taking place in a large country manor house, long-running narrator of Come Dine With Me, Dave Lamb will step out from behind the microphone to present this brand new format.

The series will feature former contestants cooking against each other in a series of challenges; they’ll be marking one another’s efforts, but will also be judged by some special mystery guests who will bring "a super critical edge to proceedings".

The launch date is still to be announced.

As the tribute act, Blobbie Williams, Tony brings king-sized humour to his performance of Robbie Williams classics, and he bills himself as "the Heavyweight King Of Pop and Comedy".

Once a member of "Take Fat", these days when he takes fat, he's likely to be frying bacon.

But Blobbie Williams recently performed at Huntingdon Hall in Worcester and Tony said "the response was incredible".

So much so, Tony has decided "to hit some bigger venues", including The Norbury Theatre in Droitwich on Saturday March 19.
