The former Strangelove frontman visits Corsham this weekend as part of his Land’s End tour, also performing songs from his immense back catalogue.

An acclaimed singer and storyteller, Patrick will be performing songs from his new album Visions of the Underworld.

Born in Bristol, Patrick Duff spent time as a street busker until he became the lead singer of alternative rock band Strangelove. The band released three critically acclaimed albums between 1991 and 1998 and toured with the likes of Radiohead.

As a solo artist, Patrick toured with WOMAD festival, collaborating most notably with Madosini, a then 81-year-old veteran African master storyteller and musician in the township of Langa, in Capetown, South Africa. Since then, Patrick has released four solo albums.

Patrick describes his music as being inspired by “a synthesis of some of the music that has shaped my life, stuff like Disney soundtracks, The Beatles, The Kinks, Bob Dylan, Nick Cave and Jonny Cash.”

Visions of the Underworld was recorded in and around a stone cottage in the heart of west Dartmoor, and features Patrick singing and playing completely live, with no editing. Produced by Rich Brown, the haunting field recordings also feature the sounds of the environment on the moors as he plays.
