THE organisers of Devizes Eisteddfod have launched a competition to find the Young Musician of Wiltshire 2015.

Entries for the contest, which aims to feature 10 of the county’s most promising young classical musicians under 19, are now open.

Eisteddfod director Michael Johnson said: “Performers will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis with an entry deadline of March 31.”

Each performer will play or sing for up to 12 minutes in front of a panel of judges in the Assembly Room at the Devizes Town Hall on May 16 at 7pm.

The winner will receive a cheque for £100 and the Young Musician of Wiltshire 2015 Trophy, donated by West Wiltshire Music Limited, with £50 to the runner-up and £25 to the third- placed performer. Audience admission is £5 payable on the door on the evening only.

The competition is sponsored by Devizes-based solicitors Awdry Bailey and Douglas.
