Say 'Boom, Boom' and the majority of people will know instantly who you are talking about.

Basil Brush has become a children's hero over the years and has celebrated over 50 years of entertainment, so it was a bit of a surprise that not many people were there to watch him perform at the Wyvern Theatre on Sunday morning (The afternoon show was much busier though).

However, despite the lack of a large crowd to the 11am showing, the audience that were there, ranging from between two and 65 years old, loved what unfolded on the stage.

The beginning of the show was a rather scary one for the younger visitors as an evil fox character, along with Mr Snell the Theatre Manager, were plotting to take over from Basil.

But once the love-able Basil Brush and his TV chum Mr Stephen (aka Chris Pizzey) made an entrance - the banter, singing and audience participation soon got underway.

It was an engaging plot to follow from start to finish and it was fun to see Basil and Mr Stephen looking through a history book and recalling their past adventures.

A particularly enterain part of the show was when Basil was feeling down about having his show cancelled by Mr Snell and everyone had to cheer him up by singing, standing up, clapping and stamping their feet. Everyone got really involved in the participation.

This was a lovely family show (with the occasional adult joke) and was definitely enjoyable.

The fact that you got to meet Basil and Mr Stephen after the show in the foyer was the icing on the cake.

Even after all these years, the naughty but nice Basil Brush is as entertaining now as he always was. This fun, exciting live show is the proof.
