Athenaeum Limelight Players are one of 86 UK-wide amateur societies selected for the 2013-2016 RSC Open Stages project.

ALPs director Graham Thomas will present his unusual and highly praised version of Macbeth on which he has worked for over a year with the Royal Shakespeare Company and The Nuffield Theatre in Southampton.

This recognition of ALPs’ professionalism is a great honour for all its members.

The cast of more than 25 have ‘grown’ with, and relished, the professional coaching they’ve received.

Richard Clarke, whose understanding of Macbeth’s relentless inner turmoil is one of the great strengths of this production, is new to ALPs from Salisbury Studio Theatre.

Lady Macbeth is played by long-term ALPs member Tanya Stockting (Gwendolen in The Importance of Being Earnest and Eva in The Accrington Pals).

As the typical ‘trophy’ wife, she gives Lady M more meaning and substance than many a professional actress.

There will be a charity preview at The Athenaeum in Warminster in aid of the Royal British Legion at 7.30pm on Wednesday, March 25. Tickets are £12.50.

The show then runs from March 26 to 28, at 7.30pm, tickets £10, with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm, tickets £7.

Special discounts can be arranged for school bookings. See www.athenaeumlimelightplayers.co.uk for further details.
