DRAMA-LOVING teenagers have until the end of the month to sign up to take part in the last ever Storm on the Lawn summer school, as the Theatre Royal Bath announces brand new musical The Teacup Poisoner will mark the project’s finale after 18years

Storm on the Lawn - one of Bath’s biggest outdoor summer shows - will be staged for the last time this August. This year’s Summer School starts on August 3, when once again a young company of actors and backstage crew will start work with the egg theatre’s professional team to present an ambitious show with high production values. This year they will stage a brand new musical thriller, The Teacup Poisoner, from August 19-23 in The Ball Court, in the grounds of Prior Park College.

Young people aged between 12 to 21 years can sign up for the project before July 31, opting to take a role on or off sage as the show needs a full production crew to be successful.

Storm on the Lawn has presented a wide range of classic and contemporary productions since 1998, when the inaugural Storm team of 50 young people staged The Tempest. Since the project started, over 1,200 teenagers have participated, some of whom now work as professional actors.

Kate Cross, Director of the egg theatre, said: “After 18 years the egg has decided to make this year’s Storm on the Lawn project, The Teacup Poisoner, its last. We have taken this decision based upon how best to use the resources that we have for the benefit and the needs of the young people who live in the region. We hope that the city of Bath and beyond will join us in celebrating 18 fantastic years by signing up to take part in the project this August or by booking tickets to see this brand new musical.”
