Young people aged 14-21 who have an interest in theatre are being invited to apply to become a young ambassador at Salisbury Playhouse.

The Playhouse is looking for 10 young people who will get the chance to go behind the scenes and learn how the theatre works. Young ambassadors are invited to review Salisbury Playhouse productions, attend VIP nights, meet theatre staff and learn about the skills needed to work on and off the stage.

They also have the opportunity to watch technical rehearsals, attend season launches and give feedback on how the Playhouse can better engage with young people.

Young ambassadors act as advocates for the Playhouse and being part of the scheme can be helpful for university applications or on the CV of anyone hoping to pursue a career in theatre.

This is the second time the Salisbury Playhouse Young Ambassadors Scheme has been run after a successful pilot year where young people attended a workshop with leading theatre critic Matt Trueman, helped organise the NT Connections Festival and met senior theatre staff to learn about their roles.

This year the young ambassadors will be responsible for managing a blog series about theatre events for young people. They will also have the chance to review productions, attend press nights and learn about the different departments in Salisbury Playhouse.

The young ambassadors will attend monthly meetings which will include a discussion with a theatre professional or artist. There will also be regular special events where young people can learn more about the work of Salisbury Playhouse.

Anyone who is interested in becoming a young ambassador at Salisbury Playhouse must fill in an application form which is available at www.salisburyplayhouse.com.

Completed applications must be returned by September 1.
