La Traviata and Madama Butterfly

Thursday, February 28 until Saturday, March 1, Bristol Hippodrome.

The Ukranian Opera of Odessa, presented by Ellen Kent, is performing La Traviata and Madama Butterfly from Thursday February 28.

Madama Butterfly is the heart-breaking story of the beautiful Japanese girl, who falls in love with an American naval lieutenant, resulting in heart-wrenching drama, and La Traviata is the operatic version of La Dame aux Camelias, the romantic story about the love and life of the passionate courtesan Violetta. Both boast beautiful sets and costumes and a large live orchestra.

As always, Ellen Kent personally chose the soloists for the tour and has invited back the audience's favourites - Maria Tsonina, who won a scholarship to the CEE Musictheatre, Vienna, has a huge following in the UK and is a wonderful Violetta; Andriy Perfilov will play Pinkerton and Alfredo. Ellen will also introduce a new soprano, Elena Dee, who is a stunningly beautiful Korean soprano and will sing Cio Cio San.

La Traviata will be performed on Thursday and Madama Butterfly on Friday and Saturday.

Sung in Italian with English surtitles.
