REVIEW: Panto at OK Corral, Wootton Bassett Light Opera Society
Panto at OK Corral, a fun-filled production with a Wild West theme, dispelled winter blues at Wootton Bassett Memorial Hall last week.
Down on the ranch, Lightning, the alleged thoroughbred (alias Beth Lawrence and Georgie Smith) had real star quality. Veteran trouper Sheila Dunn was hilarious as Dame Winnie Pegg, well supported by her daughter Calamity Jane (Kayleigh Stanley) as they rebuffed Sheriff Small Holding’s bid to take over their property.
Stuart Dark was superb as the chortling Sheriff, who drew boos galore. Tammy Hollands and Elli Smart were excellent as Butch Casserole and the Suntanned Kid.
Joseph Wright was the deadpan Indian Running Bear; Vince Lawrence was Buffalo Bill and Margaret Oakley was the lively saloon owner, Diamond Lil. Saloon girls Button and Bows (Lorraine Winterflood and Kath Sterry) added to the fun, and Principal Boy Ellen Lawrence was a fine Clint Westwood.
Other roles were played by Kim Pethybridge, Jenny Fisher, John Langston, Mark Harper and Andy Baker.
