THIS year’s Swindon Film Festival will showcase visual art as well as screening some top movies.
Running in parallel with the Film Festival, from March 1 to 10, there will be an art exhibition on the theme of Artists – Inspired By Film at The Post Modern, in Theatre Square, which will also be a venue for several of the films.
The exhibition is being organised by Artsite, who are inviting local artists to submit their original work for inclusion.
There will be a prize of £100 for the work judged as best in the show, with two runner-up prizes of £25.
Artsite’s Vicky Silver said: “Artists and filmmakers have always been inspired by each other’s practice and this competition is a great opportunity for us to present a new exhibition based on such inspiration.
“Swindon’s creative community has lots to offer local people, and linking of the two genres of film and visual arts for the Film Festival is an exciting project.” For more information, log on to www.swindonfilmfestival.org or call 01793 330639.
