SWINDON TOWN: Club await Wise compensation
TOWN have confirmed they are still waiting for an outstanding £100,000 from the deal that took Dennis Wise (pictured) from the County Ground to Leeds.
The issue came to light earlier this week after Elland Road creditors voted to accept Ken Bates' bid to buy back the ailing Yorkshire club.
Bates narrowly managed to obtain the 75 per cent of creditors he needed to get backing for his plan, which will see many of them received 1p for each £1 that Leeds owe them.
However, the deal may not be rubber-stamped for up to a month until a guarantee is given to the Football League that "football debts'' will be paid in full.
These include the money owed to Town, with the likes of Barnet, Blackburn, Bolton, Reading and Celtic as well as seven former Leeds players also awaiting payment.
Town's acting chief executive Martyn Starnes said: "Leeds still have to get this deal approved, which will only happen if there is a commitment to repay football debts.
"While we have some concerns about how the situation will develop, we are confident it will be resolved.
"Our concern is the timing of the cash. We've almost got to wait and see what happens at Leeds.''

Stupid, stupid deal to have made. Everyone knew Leeds were in trouble. Why not demand all the cash up front or 'no deal'?
