FIRE crews attended a blaze in a factory at Cooper Tires in Melksham in the early hours of this morning.

First on the scene at 12.29am were the Cooper Avon firefighters who found smoke billowing from the factory in Bath Road and fire crews from from Melksham, Trowbridge, Bradford on Avon, Corsham and Devizes were called.

Aerial support teams from Salisbury and Bath and a chemical incident unit from Warminster were also brought in to help.

Firefighters used seven breathing apparatus kits and one hose reel jet to find and extinguish the fire which was contained to a tyre processing machine.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
