Bag snatch misery for OAP
A SPATE of thefts in Trowbridge continued on Wednesday when a woman had her handbag stolen containing photographs of her family.
Over the past month police have held a series of awareness events in Trowbridge to advise shoppers on how to avoid becoming a victim of opportunist crime.
Jo Russell, 70, from Southfield, Southwick, fell victim to thieves after accidentally leaving her handbag in the Asda car park on Bythesea Road at 12 noon.
Mrs Russell said: "The handbag was accidentally left in the trolley when we put it in the trolley bay. The only people that were around were two men in their 20s and a girl also in her 20s. She had her hair in a ponytail and they were all sat on the wall.
"We went home and got the shopping out of the car and realised my handbag wasn't there. I only had £6 in the bag but I had my debit cards, cashpoint card, cheque guarantee card and other loyalty cards.
"But the main thing in there are photographs of my children when they were small. They can keep the rest, I just want my photos back because they are irreplaceable."
The bag is a black shoulder bag, which had started to come apart on one side.
