School plans IT extension

EXCITEMENT is mounting at a west Wiltshire primary school which has submitted plans for a major extension.

West Ashton Primary School near Trowbridge, a Church of England voluntary aided school, has applied for planning permission to build four classrooms and an information technology suite.

They are also building a new play area for the school's younger children over the two-week Easter break.

Headteacher Jonathan Barber who has been at the school since last April, said: "We are hoping to build four new classrooms and an ICT suite ,providing laptops to the children to be used in a dedicated space or in small groups, but these plans are still in the early stages at the moment.

"I inquired about the possibility of building a classroom and the Salisbury diocese agreed to the application and have granted us the funding but we will have to fund some of the money ourselves.

"I don't know where we are in the planning stage but they are hoping to start work in the summer.

"We are excited about the development. It will be a wonderful new addition to the school."
