Men arrested for lead theft
Alert police officers on patrol at Wroughton airfield may have helped stop a gang of scrap metal thieves.
PC Robert Lindsay and PC Stephen Payne spotted three men sat in a white van at the airfield on Sunday.
They did not accept the men's explanation that they were just chilling and searched the van where they found tools and balaclavas.
A dog unit was called in and found a stash of lead that had been taken from a hangar roof.
Three men, one aged 25 and two aged 17, were arrested and taken to Gable Cross police station in Swindon.
