WHO would have thought the man who created James Bond was laid to rest just a few miles east of Swindon?
Ian Fleming, former naval intelligence officer, author and bon viveur, wrote 14 Bond novels between 1953 and 1964, beginning the series with Casino Royale.
A man of the world and much travelled throughout his life, Fleming and his family moved to Sevenhampton in 1960, and the writer was buried in St James churchyard in the village after his death in 1964, at the age of 56.
