Trowbridge Town Hall is set to host its first ever professional production as part of a project to develop the arts in the town.

Country Boy’s Struggle will be held at the hall, in Silver Street, at 7pm on Wednesday, November 21.

The production, a one-man show written and performed by Maxwell Golden, has been put together by Trowbridge’s Youth Action Group, the Town Hall Trust and The Pound Arts Centre.

Tracy Sullivan, a director of the Town Hall Trust, said: “We are thrilled to be working with the Pound Arts Centre and welcome our first professional touring show to the Town Hall, particularly as it’s a highly acclaimed piece aimed at young people.

“It is really exciting to see this amazing building coming back to life for the community.”

A Country Boy’s Struggle follows an MC’s journey from the cliffs of Cornwall to the streets of London and features a mix of hip-hop and comedy.

Mr Golden said: “It’s about what it’s like living in a rural area and wanting to make urban music, then moving to the city and finding it’s not what you expect – especially when your heart and soul is on the beaches and with the community you grew up in.”
