PUPILS from Bradon Forest School got into the Christmas spirit yesterday by taking part in a special cake workshop.

Year 11 food technology students and the school’s Christmas cake club were treated to a visit from Sugar Celebrations in the afternoon.

They were taught how to decorate a fruit cake and will be working on their ideas ready for their work to be judged in a few weeks’ time.

Sara Jones, the head of food technology, said: “Carole from Sugar Celebrations inspired them with ideas of fun and interesting ways to make their Christmas cakes memorable.

“She will be coming back again in five weeks’ time to judge the work of the students.”

On Friday, GCSE food and nutrition students will be visited by Matthew Brookes, the head chef from the Glass House restaurant at Marsh Farm Hotel.

He will be demonstrating a variety of dishes and getting the pupils to help him with tasks.

“Several of the pupils in the group are thinking of a career in catering and a visiting chef is really inspiring for them,” Sara said.

“They will be able to ask questions and find out the best ways to get into this line of work,”
