A donantion to help fund the work of six volunteer counsellors – dealing with people facing depression, anxiety or bereavement in Trowbridge – has been handed over by the Co-operative supermarket.
Help Counselling was presented with a cheque for £1,500 after applying to the Co-operative’s Community Foundation.
Its service co-ordinator, Eva Ash-more, was given the cheque by the Co-op’s Henry Leigh, who was joined by town mayor and councillor John Knight and town crier Trevor Heeks.
The grant will fund six volunteers, offering one-to-one counselling to people struggling to cope with depression, bereavement, anxiety family or relationship issues.
Ms Ashmore said: “We are funded by local companies, trusts and charities, so companies like the Co-op are a godsend to us.
“We’ll use the money to support our running costs, as well as our two paid staff.”
