This year’s switch-on will take place on Saturday, with a Christmas Fair in the centre of the town to mark the occasion. The Assembly Hall will be filled with stalls, crafts and refreshments, accompanied by the Salvation Army Band, which will be playing all afternoon.
Festivities start from 2pm. The light ceremony will begin with a carol service at 4.15pm, with the lights being turned on at 5pm.
