A new venture to help people with lower limb problems will open in Bradford on Avon next March.

The club will be run by volunteers from the Friends of Bradford on Avon Community Healthcare and district nurses will give clinical input and dress wounds.

Amanda Brookes, business manager for the Bradford on Avon and Melksham Health Partnership (BOAMHP), said: “Lower limb problems are a big problem. It is not talked about and not given the prominence it should.

“We need to destigmatise it and bring people together in a social setting.

”Evidence shows leg clubs, which operate in a non-medical setting, lead to improved healing rates by encouraging members to become involved in their care.”

A coffee morning on Tuesday provided information on the club and a member of the Worcester Leg Club shared her experiences.

People can drop in on Thursdays, 9.30am to 1pm. Initially, the club will be open only to patients registered with BOAMHP.
