Friends have paid tribute to popular garage worker Graham Topp following his death yesterday.

Devizes-born Mr Topp, 41, died at the Total Garage, in Semington Road, Melksham, where he worked for many years, after collapsing at around 6am.

Wiltshire Police are not treating his death as suspicious but want to speak to a man and woman described as being in their 20s, both believed to be Polish, who were at the petrol station around the time of the incident.

“It is really important that we speak to a man and woman who were at the petrol station when this happened. We are trying to piece together exactly what happened before the man collapsed and we believe that these two people can assist us,” said Detective Chief Inspector Craig Holden.

“If you think you know these people or that you were the persons at the petrol station we would ask that you contact police immediately.”

The two are described as being white with both having dark hair.

Police are also checking CCTV from the petrol station to see if they can identify any other witnesses.

Mr Topp grew up in Devizes and is a former pupil of Devizes School. His parents, Michael and Jacqueline, who live on Bath Road, Devizes, were too distraught to speak to the press today.

Since Mr Topp’s death, a Facebook page has been set up in his memory by friends and regular customers from the garage.

So far, more than 1,500 people have joined the page and have left tributes for Mr Topp, who worked the late shift at the store and was known as Big G.

Donna Bainton said: “Total garage just will not be the same, you always made me smile and you were always so friendly and chatty to everyone, RIP Graham.”

Ali Ford said: “Sad day, he was a top guy who always made me smile. I will miss our little chats and topping up my fuel will never be the same again. It is funny how even If you don't know someone all that well they still touch your heart in this way.”

Floral tributes and a Portsmouth Football Club scarf have also been left outside the Total garage along with messages of condolence.

Anyone with information can call 101 asking to speak to Detective Constable Mel Carosi at Melksham CID or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
