Royal Wootton Bassett Academy welcomed back Sixth Form students to receive trophies and certificates at its annual speech evening.

Guest speaker Hannah MacLeod, Great Britain hockey international and Olympic bronze medalist, said: “Success will be very different for each of you, but you are all destined to do something great.

“You have left this fantastic school and now you have to make the right decisions in life. It scares me to think how many decisions I have had to make, and how I might have taken a different path.

“There are many crossroads, so you need to set your goal and aim for it. Know what you want to do, and work hard to get there.”

There was also a video message from a former student, Olympic swimmer Jazz Carlin. Other speakers included head girl Kiera Fitzgerald and head boy Sam Lazenby.
