RAILWAY enthusiasts will be pleased to hear of a new book exploring branch lines in the south.
Southern Counties Branch Line Steam by Michael Welch is a pictorial history containing 135 colour pictures of branch line stream trains on the former Southern Region of British Railways, covering an area from Kent to the Devon border, and all taken in the 1950s and 60s during the last years of the steam era.
The book is priced at £18.95 and is available from Cross Keys bookshop in Salisbury.
