WARMINSTER Vintage Bus Running Day donated £203 to representatives of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association (GDBA) on December 22.
As well as the cheque presentation, Transport for London Commissioner Peter Hendy, who recently received a knighthood in the New Year’s Honours List, provided a vintage Routemaster bus for the event.
After the cheque had been handed over to GDBA, the bus gave the members and others in attendance a short ride to Heytesbury and back.
Sir Peter then offered to take 67 people to the Christmas service at St Giles’ Church in Imber free of charge and raised another £200 from passenger donations, which was put towards the St Giles restoration fund.
Bob Eade, Organising Committee President, said: “Everyone had an enjoyable day out and it was an added bonus that Peter could supply the bus.
“Passengers were very generous.”
