A NEW path is to be built between Amesbury and Durrington following the efforts of a Durrington councillor to secure funding.

Work on the path, which will run along the east side of the A345 from Stonehenge Inn to Countess Road.

The final funding was secured from Wiltshire Council by cllr Graham Wright.

Cllr Roger Fisher of Amesbury Town Council said: “Innovative thinking and practical measures taken by cllr Wright have made this new link possible. “The residents of Countess Road and I have been keen supporters of the this project and Graham’s tenacity has paid off.”

Cllr Wright said: “Hundreds of journeys on foot by Durrington Villagers will be made safer by this professionally designed and installed footpath. The grass verge that is currently used is far from suitable. ”
